Another Beginning

Today marks the 4th week of new semester. From the first lecture in the first class, of the first day in the first week, i feel that i have not stop thinking and running...Too much !!

Remembered sitting in my first Bayesian Inference class on Monday, the 2nd Feb - looking at Prof Percy going thru' the introduction - same time shifting between the pillar in the middle of the odd class of the Peel Building. Pretty much excited with the new symbols and formulae. But, I had a headache later - too much new information in 2 hours. His first tutorial, OMG, i spent the whole afternoon trying to solve one Q on probabilty of having each side of light on the airplane faulty and one Q using completing the squares method. By nine pm, i went half-thru and found sleeping was a better option !!! But, what awaits us in Tutoral 2 is more shocking ! Double intergrations and differentiations. Complex algebra !! Shall be regular at Mathscope this semester...hihihi...

Next, we moved on to Maxwell 504. Beyond expectation - came Aris Syntetos of Greece, bubbly with energy and excitement, much to the quiet participation of the class. An introduction session for the first class, and we went round the oval table to introduce ourselves. I believe, he could sense problems coming already...haha, what a bunch of postgrads !
But, that was the first time, Yang, the chinesse guy talked more than he ever did last semester....hihihi. Way to go Yang..keep it up...

In his Management Science Applications class, exam would be 100% but Aris would guide us thru' series of case studies so we could see and appreciate the real applications of what we studied before (his real words !!). He got more than he asked..hihihi
I remembered telling Khawla later that if Aris can continue having the energy and excitement spirit till the end of the semester, he deserves my thumbs up....haha, we sucked out his breath during our first presentation last week that i thot he would run far..far..far away if he had the choice. We slayed him, we hanged him, we fried him were the remarks from the class. Interesting, huh? Being a good sportman, he never did abandon us but instead turned the table and request for extra lecture day for 'serious' revision. Blimmy !!

That's about Mondays. Keep checking for stories on Wednesday and Thursday....
